Who Should Book a Heart Health Check Plus?
Heart disease does not discriminate—it can affect anyone. However, certain groups are at higher risk and should prioritise screening, particularly:
- Adults aged 45–79 years
- People with diabetes from age 35
- First Nations people from age 30
- Workplaces implementing staff wellness programs
- Anyone with a family history of heart disease or symptoms such as fatigue, palpitations, or shortness of breath
Even if you feel healthy, regular checks are recommended to catch risk factors early.
What is a Risk Score Calculation?
Using the data collected, The HeartScreen calculates your five-year risk of heart attack or stroke. This allows you to see your risk in clear, understandable terms and track changes over time.
What is a Stress Test?
A stress test (also known as an exercise stress test or exercise ECG) assesses how your heart functions under physical exertion. During the test, you’ll walk on a treadmill or pedal a stationary bike while your heart rate, blood pressure, and ECG are monitored.
Cardiologists may request a stress test to:
-
Evaluate chest pain, shortness of breath, or irregular heart rhythms
-
Diagnose or monitor coronary artery disease
-
Assess how well the heart is functioning after a cardiac procedure or heart attack
-
Help determine safe levels of exercise for patients with known heart conditions
The results help guide treatment decisions and assess the need for further testing.
Why Book a Heart Health Check Plus Plus?
Heart disease is largely preventable. Early detection and intervention are key to avoiding its potentially devastating consequences. Unfortunately, many people are unaware they are at risk because conditions like hypertension (high blood pressure), hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol), and incipient heart dysfunction frequently have no warning signs.
By participating in a Heart Health Check Plus Plus with The HeartScreen, you benefit from:
- Early detection of silent cardiovascular risk factors
- Evidence-based guidance on reducing your risk
- Personalised action plans tailored to your health profile
- Convenience of on-site testing at your workplace, aged care facility, or community location
- Peace of mind knowing your heart health is monitored by Australia’s mobile cardiac screening experts
What’s Included in a Heart Health Check Plus?
The HeartScreen delivers a comprehensive assessment through its mobile cardiac team, combining both traditional and advanced diagnostics to provide a thorough understanding of your cardiovascular health.
1. Discussion of Risk Factors
A detailed conversation helps identify your personal and family history of heart disease, smoking status, current medications, coexisting conditions, as well as important social determinants such as ethnicity and residential postcode. These factors are all considered in your individual risk calculation.
2. Vitals Check
- Blood Pressure Measurement: Hypertension is a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke.
- Cholesterol & Blood Sugar (if applicable): High cholesterol and abnormal blood glucose levels can silently damage your heart and arteries.
3. Advanced Heart Tests
- Electrocardiogram (ECG): Records the electrical activity of your heart, detecting arrhythmias and signs of prior heart events.
- Echocardiogram (Heart Ultrasound): Visualises heart structure, valve function, and pumping efficiency, identifying issues such as valve disease and heart failure.
- Holter Monitor (24–48 hours): Provided if clinically indicated (e.g. abnormal ECG or symptoms), this portable device detects intermittent arrhythmias that might be missed in a standard ECG.
4. The Outcome diagnostic reporting
The outcome report is carefully reviewed by our cardiologist and forwarded to your GP and or one of HS GP’s (based on your choice) for continued care.
